BBC Radio Manchester Interview

Gideon was interviewed for half an hour yesterday morning by Mike Shaft on BBC Radio Manchester. The interview focused around Gideon’s life changing experience of faith, why he came back to Manchester, the success of his professional photography business, and his involvement in community work. Mike commented, "I love your photography work.. your photographs are really great!" and then went on to talk about his own passion for photography off air.

Mike invited him to come back on the show again in the future, and the Producer even jested that there could be a career in Radio for Gideon.

Photography Shoot in Brazil

Gideon has just returned to the UK after shooting swimwear in Brazil for client 'miamibabybeachwear', this range of swimwear was shot in exotic locations along the Brazilian coastline.

Gideon said of the experience, "capturing the swimwear on location in Brazil was part of the perfect recipe for delivering great images to this client."

Didsbury Magazine Shoot

House of Frazer partnered the creative team to provide the garments and local people from the Didsbury area modelled the garments showing how ready to wear this seasons 1940's & fabulous look is.

Corporate Resposnibility: Mistaken Identity Photography Project

The 'Mistaken Identity' photography project features the digital photography and post-production editing of young people from Longsight and Ardwick. Gideon has supported the young people in his capacity as a photography tutor in expressing their thoughts, feelings and experiences on the theme of their Mistaken Identity in Longsight and Ardwick.

This photographic art project was first exhibited at a community installation attended by the then Lord Mayor Mavis Smitheman and local people. It has risen in acclaim and will now be exhibited at Manchester's Urbis Gallery from the 14th-19th September, the exhibition will commence with an invitation only launch event tonight at the Urbis. This launch event will be attended by Manchester Councilors, Regional Media people, guests, and most importantly the photographic artists.

This event has been made possible through the funding of Mediabox and the partnership of CORRIDOR MANCHESTER and the M13 Youth Project.

Ted Baker swimwear photo shoot for Lazyme

Gideon completes a Ted Baker swimwear photo shoot for client 'Lazyme'.

The client was very happy with the results saying, "I wanted to say that I thought the images of Ayesha by Gideon were amazing. It was really interesting to see some urban shots, too, as it gives a different feel to some of the images… our suppliers so often use beach backgrounds and it gives it a bit more of an edge to have these type of images."

Barcelona Swimwear Shoot

Gideon is back from shooting swimwear in Barcelona for www.eveninglady.co.uk clothing. The fantastic beach locations and gorgeous sunny weather were ideal for capturing this swimwear range.

Owner of the company Louise is delighted with the results saying, “Gideon, I'm so pleased with the pictures from the Barcelona Bikini Shoot you took, and such a quick turnaround…I cannot speak highly enough about your work. They are fantastic Gideon, and very high caliber.” She comments further on the company website blog.

The I Feel Photography Exhibition

Gideon attended the private viewing of the exhibition in London and enjoyed the chance to see his work on canvas alongside the other work of the other two photographers.

The I Feel Exhibition.

This exhibition is a celebration of emerging talent from the UK’s fashion and media industries.

Art director Bukola Dagiloke, teams up with photographers Jason Grant, Sara Shamsavari and Gideon Thomas, to take the viewer on an interactive journey into the experiences, emotions and accomplishments of the models at the heart of the project.

Open to public: Tuesday 17 February – Friday 27 February, 10.00am – 6.00pm

Corporate Responsibility: MediaBox Photography Project

As part of Gideon's corporate responsibility remit for working with marginalized communities, he has started a photography project working with young people using digital imagery. The young people have explored their identity and the stereotyping they face growing up in Longsight/ Ardwick Manchester, and have given the project the title 'Mistaken Identity'. As part of the accreditation process for this project the young people will achieve an AQA qualification. The project is funded by a MediaBox grant, and the M13 Youth Project have facilitated the group work with the young people from the Longsight/Ardwick area.

Fashion News: Manchester Cathedral Exclusive

Manchester Cathedral's first ever editorial fashion shoot... Gideon photographed at this exclusive location as part of a future exhibition series Gideon is creating. The Cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in Manchester and a part of this cities identity, which makes for a beautiful canvas.

Gideon was excited to work with model Tas Malik from Boss Model Management, who is currently featured throughout Winter 'O8 ASIANA Magazine.

Worklife Magazine Shoot

Gideon completes a editorial fashion shoot for the launch of the new WorkLife magazine publication. The magazine will run 10,000 copies and be distributed amongst selected high end clients in the region. He was pleased to be approached by magazine creative editor Sarah Walker to work on this assignment with clothes designed by Hasan Hejazi, and models provided by Boss Model Management.

Gideon said of the experience, " I am really pleased at the quality of the talent that we have here... and I am looking forward to seeing the publication of the first issue."

Gideon receives news from the Creative Director of the "I Feel Experience" Bukola Dagiloke that the work that he shot this spring for the project will be shown in a gallery exhibition in London this February '09.

Gideon was one of the 3 photographers selected for this project, alongside the 2 London based photographers: Jason P Grant, and Sara Shamasavari. All 3 of these photographers expressed their creative photographic style under the umbrella of Bukola's concept direction, which was characteristically trademarked by chic couture modeled by urban talent in urban locations.
